Schwarz Wine Co 'Meta' Shiraz 2019

It’s grainy and firm in tannin, dark fruit and blueberry, meaty and spicy flavours, a slight bitterness, and a long and sappy finish. Distinctive." 94pts - Gary Walsh - WineFront

More Information

"The economical name is appropriate for a business that started with 1t of grapes making two hogsheads of wine in 2001. Shiraz was purchased from Jason Schwarz's parents' vineyard in Bethany, the vines planted in 1968; the following year half a tonne of grenache was added, once again purchased from the parents. In '05, grape sale agreements with another (larger) winery were terminated, freeing up 1.8ha of shiraz and 0.8ha of grenache." James Halliday

"I’m having a few issues with my metadata on the TWF search and present (and thanks for the 1,309 emails and comments), but no problems with this Meta. Anyway, 16% whole bunch, grapes from Stone Well, Light Pass, Hallett Valley, Eden Valley (per back label), and their website says “Stonewell, Eden Valley, Moppa and Bethany”.

Invariably has a juicy sort of spicy energy, and no change here.  Brown twigs, liquorice, dried herb and soy sauce, fresh blackberry. It’s grainy and firm in tannin, dark fruit and blueberry, meaty and spicy flavours, a slight bitterness, and a long and sappy finish. Distinctive." 94pts - Gary Walsh - WineFront
