"A fine vinous pulse, drawing the fore with the aft. Long attenuated filigreed tannins, sandy to be sure, but very fine. This is exceptional grenache that, with a few others, sets the regional high tone." 96pts - Ned Goodwin - Wine Companion
Top Rated Grenache - Halliday Wine Companion Awards 2022
"The only surprising piece of background is that it took (an admittedly still reasonably youthful) Steve Pannell and wife Fiona so long to cut the painter from Constellation/ Hardys and establish their own winemaking and consulting business. Steve radiates intensity and his extended experience has resulted in wines of the highest quality, right from the first vintage. The Pannells have two vineyards in McLaren Vale, the first planted in 1891 with a precious 3.6ha of shiraz." James Halliday
100% Grenache from 62-year-old vines on the Smart Vineyard, Clarendon.
"So exotic. So much spice and perfume. Cherry and berry pie, apricot, roast beef and roses. Juicy flavour, lots of spice, oranges, dense and tightly wound tannin, citrus peel and zesty tang to acidity, generous flavour but with a bony feel, very long with fresh raspberry and dried herb in the aftertaste. There’s a minor level of warmth here, but nothing of concern. Give it a little more time in bottle, and it will shine like a ruby." 95pts - Gary Walsh - WineFront
"A bright and fragrant grenache with a brambly summer berry fruit nose plus hints of pomegranate and blood orange. The palate is plump and juicy, has a central round serve of berry pastry flavours and sits straight on the finish. Aged in large oak foudre." 97pts - Nick Stock - Gourmet Traveller WINE
"Elevated old-vine Clarendon sourcing. Intense aromas of molten cherry liqueur, orange amaro, bergamot and cranberry. A fine vinous pulse, drawing the fore with the aft. Long attenuated filigreed tannins, sandy to be sure, but very fine. This is exceptional grenache that, with a few others, sets the regional high tone." 96pts - Ned Goodwin - Wine Companion
