The ever reliable Rolf Binder has done it again with this release- dry, crisp and beautiful!
Pale straw in colour, the nose expresse s a fresh fruit salad of gooseberries and kiwi fruit, with highlights of the inevitable lemon and lime indicative of this varietal. Good acidity lifts the smooth palate, leaving a finish of lemon peel and kaffir lime leaves. Food matches well with white fish dishes, or just enjoy as an aperitif. Lovely balance.
Eden Valley is recognized as one of Australia’s premium areas for Riesling.
"Classic Eden Valley aromas of lime zest, spice, blossom, lemon sherbet on display. A stroll through a spring garden in full bloom. Fresh, crunchy acidity combines with a pleasing mouthfeel, waxy and spicy, that goes long to the finish." 92pts - Jeni Port - Wine Companion
Where this wine comes from - Eden Valley
At an average altitude of 500 metres, think of Eden Valley as the high altitude cousin and neighbour of the Barossa Valley. The ‘high country’ drops the average temperature a couple of degrees, and with cool summer nights, the region is perfect for natural acid retention. No wonder Eden Valley Riesling performs so well and has built an international reputation for its vibrant citrus, mineral and floral aromatics in its youth, with the structure to cellar for years, particularly under screw cap. Eden Valley Shiraz performs well like Barossa Valley Shiraz, but there’s a touch more refinement here with violets, pepper and blueberry fruits. There’s elegance and finesse here, still with the fruit power and intensity you expect from the Barossa wine region.
