Holm Oak Pinot Noir 2019
Holm Oak Vineyards was established in 1983 and takes its names from the Holm Oak trees planted on the property. Holm Oak is one of the few smaller family owned wineries in Tasmania who grow, make and bottle their own wines on site.
"Another very good release. Meaty and earthen but with a sure push of cherry-plum fruit as the base. There’s lots going on here and yet it remains accessible. Lots of treble and lots of bass. Firm-ish tannin with complex flavour rushing through. Gorgeously varietal. The longer I sat with it the more I liked it; it unfurls beautifully." 93pts, Campbell Mattinson, Wine Front
Balnaves of Coonawarra Cabernet Merlot 2016
"Grapegrower, viticultural consultant and vigneron, Doug Balnaves has over 70ha of high quality estate vineyards. The wines are invariably excellent, often outstanding; notable for their supple mouthfeel, varietal integrity, balance and length - the tannins are always fine and ripe, the oak subtle and perfectly integrated. Coonawarra at its best." 5 Star Winery - James Halliday
"A sleek, taut wine of perfect proportions: 82% cabernet and 18% merlot, toned by 12 months in tight-grain Troncais and Jupiles French oak. Few in Coonawarra manage tannins like Pete Bissell. Fine-boned, ripe tannins that serve as a vector of quality, chaperoning currant, damson plum, anise, bitter chocolate and a swathe of dried herb flavours to a long, effortless finish of grace over bluster; energy over heft; a pucker rather than a rasp; a grin over a grimace. Lovely wine!" 95pts, Ned Goodwin MW, Halliday Wine Companion
Yangarra Shiraz 2019
Yangarra is one of the most highly regarded wineries in McLaren Vale, renowned for producing exceptional Shiraz and Grenache. Winemaker Peter Fraser was named Halliday Wine Companion Winemaker of the Year in 2016.
"Purple colour from core to rim and up the sides of the glass as well. Plums, rosemary and sea-spray aromatics. The palate flows majestically from front to back, light of foot but carrying serious intensity and drive. Structured to accentuate the long and lingering glide of fruit into the finish. So much pleasure now and will provide for many years to come" 95pts, Stuart Knox, The Real Review
