"back to top form in 2017 for this wine...Outstanding"  Gary Walsh

'I was chatting with Giuseppe Vajra last week, talking Nebbiolo, and he commented that he thought Luke Lambert’s was excellent. Agreed. And nice to hear.  Anyway, back to top form in 2017 for this wine. It’s a pleasant orange colour this year. Funny thing to say, but when I first tasted this, it reminded me of a blood orange, with a little carrot (earthy) and fresh ginger in the blend: a healthy feel to it, as it were. It’s juicy and fresh, but has restraint, and a fine chalky texture. The acid line is clean and driving, and the finish is particularly long and well-defined, tannin licking playfully. There’s a little campari/orange rind twist in the aftertaste, which is gustatory and encouraging. Outstanding.'  95 Points - Gary Walsh, The Wine Front

"Luke Lambert graduated from CSU's wine science course in 2002, aged 23, cramming in winemaking experience at Mount Pleasant, Coldstream Hills, Mount Prior, Poet's Corner, Palliser Estate in Martinborough, and Badia di Morrona in Chianti. He purchases grapes from quality-conscious growers in the Yarra Valley and Heathcote. He has now settled in the Yarra Valley, leasing slightly less than 1ha of Heathcote nebbiolo, and larger amounts of Yarra Valley shiraz and nebbiolo. The wines are wild yeast-fermented and bottled without fining or filtration" James Halliday

Where this wine comes from - Yarra Valley

Just 50 kilometres from Melbourne, Victoria’s Yarra Valley is a star of the wine regions surrounding the city, known as the ‘Melbourne Dress Circle’. With plenty of microclimates and sub-regions, the Yarra Valley doesn’t have a weak link. Certainly the region’s reputation has been built on the quality of its cool climate Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. As far as Chardonnay goes, Yarra Valley strikes the right balance of ripeness, without going over the edge. There’s white peach, lemon pith and Fuji apple supported by a fine spine of citrus-like acidity complemented by supportive oak maturation. The region’s Pinot Noir certainly produces that ethereal quality that Pinot-philes go crazy for – with lifted cherry notes, texture and length. Pinosity? It’s here in spades. Don’t discount Yarra Valley Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon, which also have a long history in the region and are being recognised for producing their own unique regional styles. Game on!
