The La Violetta wines offer power and precision, and drinkability in spades. Grapes are sourced from established vineyard s from around the Great Southern region, and winemaker Andrew Hoadley plays a big part in overseeing the management of the vines, ensuring vine health and optimum ripeness. Andrew is also chief winemaker at Castelli Estate.
"I had a slice of Viennetta the other night, and it’s not how I remember it at all. Quite light, not much rippling chocolate on top, and a flavour almost like that ice cream that’s made from buratta. Oh, hang on, Violetta.
A whole lot of grilled meat, pepper, and stalky perfume, and fresh blackberry. It’s medium-bodied, bloody and meaty, very spicy, grainy tannin, a mineral feel with glassy acidity, and a sort of frozen dark berry flavour. Finish has a little bit of tang and dry silty tannin, and fair length. Gee, you have to like them savoury, but it’s a very good wine in style." 93pts - Gary Walsh - WineFront
