More Information

While some winemaker's treat rose as a "by-product", I can tell you Golden Ball don't do things by halves and this rose receives the Rolls Royce treatment when it comes to winemaking; the winemaker treats it as if it's Penfolds Grange!

Allow me to indulge in winemaker speak: the grapes are whole bunch crushed, basket pressed and left to wild ferment in 3 & 4 year-old French barriques for nine months.  The wine is barrel stirred for texture and mouth feel.  This all sounds like a $50+ Mornington Peninsula Pinot Noir, but it's not, it a first class Beechworth rose made very much in the style of Provence Rose.

About the Winery
"The Original Vineyard was planted by James McLaurin in 1996, mainly to Chardonnay, Shiraz (in 2013 grafted to Chardonnay), Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Malbec; with lesser plantings of Petit Verdot, Sagrantino and Savagnin. The Lineage Vineyard was planted in '08 to Shiraz, followed by lesser plantings of Petit Verdot, Sagrantino and Savagnin. No insecticides are used, only copper, sulphur, milk and oil as foilage sprays. The wines are aged in 33% new French oak, the remainder 2-4 years old. The low yields result in intensely flavoured wines," 5 Star Winery - James Halliday
