About this Wine
"A fine wine that embodies the Aristotelean ideal of sass and sophistication across impeccably ripe fruit, an attractive lick of oak, judicious lees handling for textural detail and flavours that run the gamut of herbal, tropical and stone fruits, all careening effortlessly along a rail of bright acidity infused with mineral crunch." 94pts - Ned Goodwin MW - Halliday Wine Companion
About the Winery
By winning Australia's most well-known and respected wine accolade, the Jimmy Watson Memorial Trophy, with their first ever red wine, Flametree Wines quickly captured the attention of wine media, tr ade and consumers. A five star rating in James Halliday’s definitive Australian Wine Companion since 2012 ranks Flametree Wines in the top 5% of all of Australia's wineries.
"Flametree, owned by the Towner family (John, Liz, Rob and Annie), has had extraordinary success since its first vintage in 2007. The usual practice of planting a vineyard and then finding someone to make the wine was turned on its head: a state-of-the-art winery was built, and grape purchase agreements signed with growers in the region. Show success was topped by the winning of the Jimmy Watson Trophy with its '07 Cabernet Merlot. If all this were not enough, Flametree has secured the services of winemaker Cliff Royle." 5 Star Winery - James Halliday
