More Information

We've done it again but this time it has a famaliar name.  We've found an awesome pinot noir at a price that's the best in Australia.  It is First Foot Forward Pinot Noir 2018 and I will tell you now, I love this pinot noir.  It delivers everything you could ask of it.  Over the last few years the critics have banged on about how good the this wine is for the money and this 2018 vintage is proving to be the biggest hist yet.

Campbell Mattinson on The Wine Front opened his review with: "Put this wine on your radar"  and finished writing "it has something extra"  and those two phrases are spot on and this is why I'm talking about it today.

I've often thought there are many quiet achievers in Yarra Valley and First Foot Forward proves my point.  Put this in a blind tasting with any Australian Pinot Noir under $30 and you'll be surprised how this stacks up against more fancied, more expensive producers.

I know I've an agenda been a retailer, but I will tell you one thing, you can certainly add First Foot Forward to your list of good value, good quality producers.  That's what was said about a previous vintage.  This easy going medium bodied palate, layered with smooth, grainy tannins and sprinkled with herbs and spices. It has a structure that will impress both, the novice Pinot noir drinker and the professional alike.   I remember writing last year that you dont hear great value and pinot noir in the same sentence, but this proves there's always an exception.

REVIEW FROM CAMPBELL MATTINSON

Put this wine on your radar.  It’s murky and complex. That’s a good start, particularly given that it’s also sensibly priced. It tastes of red cherry, fresh beetroot, woody spices and herbs, though the emphasis is on lightly stewed, freshly served fruit. There’s a dry drift of tannin, chalky almost, but it’s perfectly integrated as part of the whole. It’s not a deep pinot noir but it has something extra.
