Fire Block Watervale Riesling 2015

Made by Nick Walker and David O’Leary. Fire Block vineyard was originally planted in 1926 beside the old Watervale railway station site. The Shiraz and Grenache vines are over 80 years old. In 1995 the 6 hectare property was purchased by Alistair Gillespie and Bill and Noel Ireland. Now three wines are skilfully contract-made, winning trophies and gold medals at capital city wine shows.
James Halliday

The growing season was mild, but on the dry side. Yields were low, and small berries yielded flavour packed juice. This shows in the wine, which is really an expression of the grape flavours - in this wine it is very obvious. Lemon, lime and floral characters. Typical of a good vintage in Watervale.
