Dhiaga Gewurtztraminer 'Pet Nat' 2018


The 2018 Dhiaga Gewurtztraminer 'pet-nat' has won Best Sparkling Wine at the Australian Alternative Varieties Wine Show! 

Given this is first time we've advertised a pet-nat, you may be wondering what on earth is a Pet Nat, Well it's the hipster sparkling turning up at many wine bars and restaurants, but it's basically an ancient and natural way of making sparkling wine, predating the méthode champenoise.  Many of the old world traditions are employed and are often cloudy, unfiltered and capped with a crown seal.

This one is from the coolest mainland site in Australia, ideal for Gewürztraminer. Left on the skins for few hours before fermenting with wild yeasts. The wine was bottled à la pétillante naturelle to finish fermentation in bottle which leaves a natural sediment. No sulfur, fining, filtration, or other additive or process was made to this wine. It is as fresh and unblemished a wine as that can be created.
