Now this is something special.  700 wines entered the McLaren Vale Wine Show.  Chalk Hill Tempranillo Grenache 2022 was voted the best - Wine of Show!

McLaren Vale is probably the most 'on trend' regions at the moment.  Halliday's Wine of the Year comes from McLaren Vale, as does many in demand newish wineries such as Dune, Brash Higgins and Bondar.

No doubt wines from those wineries where amongst the 700 entries in the McLaren Vale Wine Show, but it was the Chalk Hill Tempranillo Grenache 2022 that prevailed.

“The 2022 Chalk Hill Tempranillo Grenache ultimately rose to the top as a seamless example of vibrant fleshy fruit overlayed with a floral delicacy and poise. Its bright line of acidity and detailed tannin structure are the icing on the cake. A truly impressive wine”  McLaren Vale Wine Show 2023

"The growth of Chalk Hill has accelerated after passing from parents John and Diana Harvey to grapegrowing sons Jock and Tom. Both are heavily involved in wine industry affairs in varying capacities. Further acquisitions mean the vineyards now span each district of McLaren Vale, planted to both the exotic (savagnin, barbera and sangiovese) and mainstream (shiraz, cabernet sauvignon, grenache, chardonnay and cabernet franc) varieties. The Alpha Crucis series is especially praiseworthy." James Halliday

A medium bodied wine that is bright, fresh and fruit driven. Red and dark berry fruits, with rose petals and layers of lingering spice.
