More Information

"Medium yellow colour with a faint brassy tinge, and the bouquet shows apricot and peach—more stone fruits than citrus—with a nutty, creamy, buttery background. There's a slight suspicion of botrytis. The palate is soft and round, gentle in acidity, with a medium-length finish, and there's a trace of tannin imparting 'chew'. The style of the wine is complex in a Burgundy-like way: a contrast to more fruit-focused Aussie chardonnays."  Huon Hooke (The Real Review)

A full, ripe chardonnay style with flavours in the rock melon, peach spectrum with just a hint of lemon peel and pineapple glacé. Succulent and juicy mid palate, laced with a core of fine acid that skates across the palate, finishing with poise and grace.

Wines at Bass Phillip are handcrafted with strict scientific analysis and monitored with rigorous quality control. However the story doesn’t end there, the real essence of Bass Phillip’s wine production is to allow the forces of nature to maintain control. Minimal human intervention is practiced wherever possible – no irrigation/pesticides/fertilizers, minimal pumping/ filtration, natural yeast, no fining agents.

This is grown at Leongatha South, South Gippsland, Victoria. Bass Phillip uses close planting, extremely low cropping, no toxic chemicals, & natural winemaking. This wine always has intensity, full natural acidity and great length. It will develop over the next eight years plus. Normally Estate chardonnay was matured in approximately 20% new oak. It has aromas of Lifted citrus & stone fruit. Well balanced, vibrant fruit and great acid structure. Subtle notes of toasty oak underlay, creating a well rounded palate.
