Bannockburn '1314 AD' Pinot Noir 2018

The '1314' is an early-drinking version of Pinot from Bannockburn's Ann's Block--a site that also feeds Bannockburn's Pinot Noir proper. The vines here were planted between 2003 and 2004 to 114, 115 and MV6 clones.

More Information

The '1314' is an early-drinking version of Pinot from Bannockburn's Ann's Block--a site that also feeds Bannockburn's Pinot Noir proper. The vines here were planted between 2003 and 2004 to 114, 115 and MV6 clones. This was wild-yeast fermented in four tonne open fermenters before being pressed to French oak barriques (20% new) for eight months maturation.

“…Bannockburn produces outstanding wines across the range, all with individuality, style, great complexity and depth of flavour. The low-yielding estate vineyards play their role. Winemaker Michael Glover is determined to enhance the reputation of Bannockburn.” James Halliday

Bannockburn's viticultural principles are based on a healthy respect for the land and responsible farming, e.g. the use of organic composting and straw mulching to eliminate need for herbicide sprays and the cultivation of inter-row cover crops to add soil nutrients. Wines are made on a low-intervention basis.
