The complexity of the bouquet is striking, with black fruits, spice, earth & cedar, & a complete wine in the mouth, at once supple yet firm thanks to exemplary texture & structure. The savoury finish & aftertaste is pure Cabernet." 96pts - James Halliday
Deep rich red in colour, the nose is perfumed with perfectly ripened dark blackberry, liquorice and cassis fruit. The palate is firm and full bodied, with fleshy cassis and blackberry fruit. The finish is long and textured with fine grainy grape tannins. This wine showing the structure and completeness typical of “The Tally”. Made to cellar with confidence, decant before drinking.
"Hand-picked grapes from the Dead Morris Vineyard were given extended maceration post-ferment, then taken to the best French barrels money can buy (50% new) for 20 months maturation. The complexity of the bouquet is striking, with black fruits, spice, earth and cedar, and a complete wine in the mouth, at once supple yet firm thanks to exemplary texture and structure. The savoury finish and aftertaste is pure Cabernet." 96pts - James Halliday - Wine Companion
"14.5%. Hits up immediately with flavour. A luscious gravity. For all the fruit, there is tannin, a spread of it, a curling wave. Seductive and impressive at once. Rich with blackcurrant and dark chocolate. Outstanding." 96pts - Campbell Mattinson - WineFront
"This is top of the wazza from Balnaves, though I still don't understand why it's sealed under cork. Oh well, the wine opened fine and is seriously good. From a very good vintage and showing all the concentration and power you expect from the best Coonawarra seasons. Loads of blackcurrant, liquorice and blackberry. Tannins are firm and the oak, though substantial, is not overplayed. It's a wine for longer-term cellaring. Lovely long, dry finish." 96pts - Ray Jordan - The West Australian
