The variety is primitivo (also known as Zinfandel) and it's from Puglia, the heel of the Italian boot and it delivers a rich, dense & powerful wine.  But this one also has complexity that almost others are missing, probably due Sessantanni sourcing their grapes from 60 year old vines - the oldest and most respected in the region.  

Sometimes these awards come form no where, but not this wine.  This has pedigree.  It's picked up 7 Gold Medals at various wine shows and was also awarded the Tre Bicchieri rating by Gambero Rosso 2021, the highest rating they can bestow on a wine and not many receive that, I will tell you now.  This wine is the real deal.

Luca Maroni is Italy's answer to James Halliday.  He tastes more and rates more wine than any other in Italy and releases and annual wine guide.  And as we hinted to previously, he is in form and rates wines people want to drink. You won't be disappointed with this.
