“If you’re looking for first class, traditionally styled, Barossa shiraz, this release from Turkey Flat is the perfect ‘go to’. It’s toasty, malty, beautifully blackberried and rich, the deliciousness factor from start to finish (very) high. To boot, it has both the inherent structure and balance to keep it at a high level for a good long time. This is Turkey Flat Shiraz in exactly the form you’d like to see it. Plum, kirsch, cream and cocoa characters are all nothing if not seductive. Licks of oak are perfectly applied. Fruit is dark and satisfying. Redcurrant and spice notes are there, but as bit players. It’s Barossa shiraz, fighting fit.” – 95 Points Campbell Mattinson.
Deep crimson purple, this smells super with its aromas of briary dark fruits together with a little cedar/vanillin from the beautifully handled oak (the wine was matured in new and seasoned French oak hogsheads). There is an old vine creaminess to the palate which manages to be rich and concentrated but supremely balanced at the same time. A terrific wine from go to whoah.Philip Rich - Published on 01 Aug 2017 James Halliday Wine Companion
