Damsteep Vineyard is located in the north east of Waipara Valley at the foot of the Omihi Saddle and was planted in 1999. Planted to a density of more than 5000 vines per hectare.
A single vineyard wine from sustainably grown hillside Spye Vineyard. The grapes were 95% destemmed with the remainder crushed by foot. The wine was fermented for 11 days in open-top vats that were hand plunged twice daily. Intense, taught and mineral. Restrained plum and dark cherry. Great length, balance and power.
