"A complex wine that’s full of flavour yet not short on finesse."
A complex wine that’s full of flavour yet not short on finesse. There’s caramel, a briny tang, the fragrance of chamomile, smoke, yeast and pear, among other things. Medium to full bodied with pin-prick effervescence, good posture and a beautiful sense of composure. It combines dry minerality with the roundness of pinot-dominant fruit to great effect. Excellent length and a long, dry, spicy finish. Ripper NV. 94 points, drink N-2015. Gary Walsh, The Winefront
This is subtle and reserved but there is real breadth as the airy and layered nose offers up notes of citrus, soft yeast, pear and even a hint of spiced peach that dissolves gracefully into wonderfully delicious, intense and powerful flavours that are detailed and deep, which is to say, like the nose, possess real depth of character. 92 points. Fresh, bright and deliciously lively, feeling lighter in body and less overtly voluptuous than the 2005 version was, but possessing a more vivid energy and raciness. The high-toned fruit flavours are underlined by spicy notes of soil that give this a nearly exotic complexity, finishing with fragrant, floral length. Peter Liem
