Crimson Red in colour with a maroon hue. A sophisticated mix of fruit and spice aroma’s on the nose. With crushed strawberry, red cherry and pomegranate, element of spice and a touch of earth from the whole bunch inclusion add complexity. The palate displays a lush and layered density of fruit with dark cherry and red berry flavours with plush fruit tannins woven in adding complexity. There is a soft yet bright acid line providing drive and length to wine before the classic fantail finish of a great Yarra Pinot Noir.

“A similar feel or DNA to the Light Dry Red and you know what that means? It's a delicious drink. Full of bright, juicy cherries and pips, laced with woodsy spices and a dash of Angostura bitters. Smoky and sultry, too. Just shy of full bodied, textural and plush, with slightly grainy tannins. Lively and fresh. Get into this now.”  Rating: 94 points.  Jane Faulkner 12 AUG 2021.  Halliday Wine Companion

"This is a $30 Pinot Noir with quality written all over it.  It’s drinking beautifully right now and there’s nothing really to suggest that it won’t maintain the charm offensive for a good few years. It feels both dry and polished, savoury and sour, but it’s the swish, ripe, red berried fruit and the seamless integration of smoky oak that has it feeling both certain and seductive.  It’s an A Grade Drink Now Pinot Noir, with the attributes to hold and mature."  93 points, Campbell Mattinson, The WineFront

"Youthful and bright in the glass. Aromas of raspberry, cherry, sap, spice and dried herbs. Fresh and bright in flavour, cherry, redcurrant, woodsy, spice and brambly. The tannins shape the wine and the acidity is crunchy and gives plenty of freshness and drive."  92 points, Aaron Brasher, The Real Review

"Arguably a little serious for this list and the finish is a bit drying, but it’s also very drinkable.  It’s the mezzanine level Pinot for Oakridge, after the Over The Shoulder entry point, but the lines are classic Yarra Valley Pinot.  Generous, sappy, and full of red fruit, the mid-palate chugs along with great raspberry plum generosity, then with a firmer-than-expected tannin handshake to finish.  That red fruit core is pretty handsome for this price.  Definitely recommended."  92 points, Andrew Graham, Australian Wine Review

Where this wine comes from - Yarra Valley

Just 50 kilometres from Melbourne, Victoria’s Yarra Valley is a star of the wine regions surrounding the city, known as the ‘Melbourne Dress Circle’. With plenty of microclimates and sub-regions, the Yarra Valley doesn’t have a weak link. Certainly the region’s reputation has been built on the quality of its cool climate Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. As far as Chardonnay goes, Yarra Valley strikes the right balance of ripeness, without going over the edge. There’s white peach, lemon pith and Fuji apple supported by a fine spine of citrus-like acidity complemented by supportive oak maturation. The region’s Pinot Noir certainly produces that ethereal quality that Pinot-philes go crazy for – with lifted cherry notes, texture and length. Pinosity? It’s here in spades. Don’t discount Yarra Valley Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon, which also have a long history in the region and are being recognised for producing their own unique regional styles. Game on!

Oakridge Yarra Valley Series Pinot Noir 2019

Sells in some places up to $30,which is over priced. At $23.99 about the right price. A nice tasting wine with not much to complain about. Still think the Central Otago NZ Pinots are better value in price and taste. I bought the Cloudwine exploration 6 pack of various pinots and all of these are better than the Oakridge. Hope I haven’t been too picky because the Oakridge is stiil a nice wine.
